New GEO-POWER-EU Strategic Autonomy Index Measures Countries’ Decision-Making Independence

The GEO-POWER-EU is pleased to announce the launch of the Strategic Autonomy Index, a new tool that measures the extent to which countries can make domestic policy decisions independently of external influence.

Covering the nine countries of the Western Balkans (WB6) and Eastern Partnership (EaP3) regions, the index assesses autonomy across political, security, economic, and societal dimensions. Based on expert evaluations and scored from 0 to 100, it provides a comprehensive measure of how effectively national institutions are insulated from external pressure and able to determine their own course of action.
