New Blog on “Georgia: Between Geopolitics, Europeanisation and National Sovereignty” by Kakha Gogolashvili and Arsen Arakelov

The GEO-POWER-EU Consortium researchers released a new analysis titled “Georgia: Between Geopolitics, Europeanisation and National Sovereignty.” The article is authored by Senior Fellow and the Director of European Studies, Kakha Gogolashvili and Arsen Arakelov from the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies (GFSIS), a partner in the GEO-POWER-EU consortium.

Strategically located between Europe and Asia, Georgia has long positioned itself as a vital transit corridor for energy and infrastructure. In this analysis, authors examine how Georgia’s foreign policy and transit strategy are increasingly shaped by great power competition, domestic politics, and growing global interest in East–West connectivity. Drawing on insights from the GEO-POWER-EU Interdependence Database, the authors explore Georgia’s role in major regional projects such as the BTK Railway, the Green Energy Corridor, and the Anaklia Deep Sea Port, while examining the country’s evolving relations with the EU, Russia, China, and Azerbaijan.
