GEO-POWER-EU Public Opinion Survey Results Presented at Event “Geopolitics from Below: Insights from Montenegro, the Western Balkans and the Eastern Partnership” in Podgorica

On 24 September, GEO-POWER-EU Researcher, Assistant Professor Tena Prelec (University of Rijeka), together with Dr. Đorđe Krivokapić (University of Belgrade), Prof. Florian Bieber (University of Graz), and Dr. Jovana Marović (BiEPAG), shared the results of a Public Opinion Survey exploring geopolitical perceptions across the Western Balkans, and the Eastern Partnership countries with a particular focus on Montenegro.

The public event, titled “Geopolitics from Below: Survey Insights from Montenegro, the Western Balkans and the Eastern Partnership”, held at the Institute for Advanced Studies (INS), University of Montenegro, was part of the GEO-POWER-EU project, funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Programme.

The participants discussed how people in the region perceive their place within contemporary global processes, from attitudes toward the European Union and regional cooperation to broader questions of trust, sovereignty, and external influence. The discussion centred on the “geopolitics from below” approach, illustrating how everyday perceptions and experiences shape political reality.

The event attracted public and media interest and was covered by the Montenegrin daily news outlet, Vijesti.  Read more: Vijesti article.
