GEO-POWER-EU Researcher Dr. Filip Ejdus Shares Views on Serbia’s EU Path in The Parliament Magazine
Filip Ejdus, professor of Security Studies at the University of Belgrade and a member of the GEO-POWER-EU consortium, contributed expert commentary to The Parliament on Serbia’s geopolitical strategy in light of EU enlargement. He described President Vučić’s foreign policy as focused on short-term gains rather than long-term strategic alignment, noting that “in an increasingly multipolar world, it simply makes more sense to hedge your bets.”
Dr. Ejdus also highlighted China’s growing influence in the Western Balkans, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, and addressed Serbia’s reluctance to align with EU sanctions on Russia due to Moscow’s leverage over the Kosovo issue. His insights were part of a broader commentary that included perspectives from other experts on the region.
