Dr. Tena Prelec Presents GEO-POWER-EU Findings at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs

On 21 October 2025, Dr. Tena Prelec, Assistant Professor of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Rijeka, will present findings from the GEO-POWER-EU project at an event organized by the Swedish Institute of International Affairs (UI), a consortium partner in the project.

Moderated by Prof. Nicholas Aylott, Head of the Europe Programme at UI, the discussion will explore how public attitudes toward governance and democracy in Serbia have evolved since the student-led protests that began in late 2024. Dr. Prelec will analyze the origins and nature of the protest movement and assess its potential to transform into a political opposition, which remains highly fragmented. The session will also consider how Serbia’s internal political dynamics shape developments in neighbouring states and influence their EU accession paths.
