GEO-POWER-EU Researcher Yuliia Tarasiuk Released a New Blog on Türkiye’s Cultural and Social Impact in Ukraine

Yuliia Tarasiuk, GEO-POWER-EU Researcher and Lecturer at Odesa I.I. Mechnikov National University (ONU), has published a new blog, analysing the evolving cultural and social influence of the Republic of Türkiye in Ukraine between 2008 and 2024.

Drawing on data from the GEO-POWER-EU Interdependence Database, the article explores how Türkiye developed a multifaceted soft power presence in Ukraine through education, media diplomacy, humanitarian assistance, and economic investment. The analysis highlights key initiatives like the opening of the Yunus Emre Institute in Kyiv, the expansion of Turkish language and scholarship programs, academic exchanges such as Mevlana, and TİKA’s long-standing support for vulnerable communities, particularly the Crimean Tatars. It also discusses the rising popularity of Turkish TV and films in Ukraine, the growing role of Turkish companies like ONUR Group and Baykar Makina, and Türkiye’s consistent support for Ukraine during the ongoing war.
