The South-East European Research Centre (SEERC) is a non-profit research centre of CITY College, University of York Europe Campus, established in Thessaloniki, Greece in 2004. SEERC conducts multidisciplinary research in Digital Transformation, Sustainability, and Well-Being & Inclusion.
Mission:SEERC's mission is to support the stable and smooth development of South-East Europe by conducting pure and applied research throughout and for the region. To accomplish this, SEERC employs the existing research capacities of the University of York and CITY College by facilitating the collaboration between their research staff, and by developing multi-disciplinary networks of researchers from across South-East Europe.

Nina Caspersen
Nina Caspersen is Professor of Politics and Associate Dean for Research at the University of York, UK. She is a leading expert on territorial conflicts, including contested territories, sovereignty, kin-states, and peace processes. Her work is comparative in nature but with a specific focus on the Balkans and the Caucasus. She is the author of three monographs – Peace Agreements (Cambridge: Polity 2017), Unrecognized States (Cambridge: Polity 2012), Contested Nationalism (Oxford: Berghahn, 2010) – and numerous journal articles. Her research has been funded by the British Academy, the Economic and Social Research Council, the Medical Research Council, and the Norwegian Research Council. She has worked with a number of international organisations, NGOs and think tanks, and is a trustee of International Alert.
Giannis Saltaris
Giannis Saltaris is the Communication Manager at the South East European Research Centre (SEERC), a research center of CITY College, the University of York Europe Campus. Giannis holds a First-Class Honours degree in Business Studies from the University of Sheffield and a Master’s degree in Digital Marketing & Social Media from the University of York, both achieved with distinction. With a robust academic foundation and expertise in digital marketing, he excels in crafting digital strategies and narratives that resonate with global audiences.
Mr. Nikolaos Zacharis
Mr. Nikolaos Zacharis is the Director of South East European Research Center (SEERC), a research center of CITY College, the University of York Europe Campus, since 2006. He has more than 30 years of experience as a consultant and manager working for industrial as well as public sector organizations on issues ranging from management of science and innovation to sustainable economic and regional development in Greece and in a series of eastern European countries.
Dr. Alexandra Prodromidou
Dr Alexandra Prodromidou is an Assistant Professor at the Business Administration and EconomicsDepartment of CITY College, University of York, Europe Campus and a Research Associate at the Southeast European Research Centre (SEERC). She is also a Research Associate at the Sheffield Political Economy Research Institute (SPERI) of the University of Sheffield. She holds a PhD in Russian Foreign Energy Policy in the Caspian region (University of Birmingham, UK) and has published on energy vulnerability in Greece. Dr Prodromidou has also worked and published on post-2014 migration in Europe. She is a member of the stirring committee of the MIGREC Centre of the University of Belgrade inside the framework of the H2020 Twining Project for the establishment of a Centre of research excellence in the field of Migration Studies in Serbia (2019-2022). In the past she has worked on various EU funded projects focusing on migration, such as the Jean Monnet Networks Erasmus+ funded MIGRATE project (2016-2019), the Jean Monnet Networks Erasmus+ funded BORDEUR project on EU integration (2019-2022) and the World Bank Legal Vice-Presidency, Secretariat of the Global Forum on Law Justice and Development funded project INTEGRATE on refugee integration in Greece (2020-2021). She has published with Palgrave and SAGE.
