Sister Projects

InvigoratEU is a comprehensive project focused on strengthening the EU’s enlargement and neighbourhood policies to enhance Europe’s resilience in a rapidly changing geopolitical landscape. The project aims to reform the EU’s enlargement strategy, respond to external geopolitical pressures in the Eastern Neighbourhood and Western Balkans, and rebuild the EU’s foreign policy arsenal to address new military threats. It will develop evidence-based policy recommendations through extensive research, public opinion surveys, and scenario analysis. Additionally, InvigoratEU will engage stakeholders, including young professionals and civil society, to co-design actionable strategies. The consortium includes diverse partners from across Europe, with a significant representation from Eastern Europe and the Western Balkans.

RE-ENGAGE is a strategic initiative aimed at helping the EU refine its foreign policy and re-engage with its neighbours amidst heightened geopolitical tensions and ongoing conflict, particularly due to Russia’s war against Ukraine. The project seeks to enhance the EU’s geopolitical influence by strengthening its enlargement and neighbourhood policies to ensure that neighbouring states are democratic, stable, and capable of countering external threats like hybrid warfare. RE-ENGAGE will conduct in-depth studies in six candidate countries across the Western Balkans and Eastern Neighbourhood, focusing on lessons from past democratisation efforts, countering negative external influences, and bolstering EU resilience against hybrid threats.

REUNIR is a forward-looking project that aims to future-proof the EU’s security, enlargement, and Eastern neighbourhood policies in response to the shifting geopolitical landscape, especially after the 2022 invasion of Ukraine. Coordinated by the Centre for European Policy Studies, this EU-funded initiative brings together 12 partners across Europe to assess threats to the resilience of EU candidate countries, identify capability gaps, and map perceptions within the EU. By employing a foresight approach, REUNIR seeks to provide evidence-based policy recommendations that will help guide the EU towards a more secure and resilient future in international relations.
